Welcome!

With nearly two decades of experience in the field of classic and contemporary animation art, Great American Ink is excited to share our wealth of knowledge with collectors and enthusiasts all over the world. With one of the largest collections of vintage art in the world, we will be continuously updating our blog with new exhibitions, educational articles, videos and commentary from industry professionals, artists and animation historians. Our goal is to provide collectors and all of those who are curious about animation art with the background, history, and importance of this lost art. We hope you will find this site to be an invaluable resource to you as a fan of animation art.

Our first exhibition is from Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," 1937

An early model drawing of Snow White attributed to Grim Natwick. Grim was known for creating Betty Boop, Fleischer Studio's signature character. He was also one of the lead animators on "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Note the "Boop" look on this early drawing as compared with the final look of Snow White.

A final original production drawing from the feature.

A concept drawing of Snow White's Bed. The bed-making sequence was cut from the final version of the feature.

Original rough model drawing of Doc.

"Mirror mirror on the wall..." Original production drawing of the Queen.

Original production drawing of the Witch at the window of the dwarf's cottage.
